Vintage Ventipop (#8)
:: Ventipop is on vacation and will return Monday, June 11 ::
Please enjoy a few of these favorite things from past Ventipop Posts until I get back.
I write about culture and books and indie music and and whatever else strikes my fancy. I'm primarily interested in the finding positive stories from around the world. Ventipop is my coping mechanism; a way to make myself believe the world is still a pretty cool place. If you like Ventipop and would like to keep it going, please consider buying me a cup of coffee or donating something larger via the PayPal link at the bottom. Cheers!
Like the old Cheers theme song used to say, "Wouldn't you like to get away?..." That's what Ventipop is all about. A little adult hidey-place in the far corner of the internet where you'll never see us posting stories about any of that usual negative, divisive gossipy stuff. It's not like we think you should dig a hole and stick your head into it. But there should be a place to escape and take a breath from all of it too.
We leave the hard news to everyone else. Here, we want you to laugh, to think and to find out about new movies, new music, new architecture, new science, new...whatever...without having to spend hours searching through all the above to find what's interesting. If you feel like we're drowning in our own spin cycle, you've come to the right place.
1. Bloody Funny - "Farewell, Mr. Bunting" starring Fred Armisen is your NSFW sketch of the day:
2. Artist of the Day - There's something both beautiful and intimately disturbing about the work of Latvian painter Jana Brike. It's rare to be moved by both beauty and a troubling sense of something not quite right beneath the surface of the beauty you are seeing.
5. Song of the Day - "Ohio" by Over The Rhine
